Still Frame: “Gary Baseman: The Door Is Always Open” (April 2013 – Los Angeles)

Yesterday, I got a chance to take part in a preview tour of Gary Baseman‘s incredible exhibition at the Skirball Cultural Center in Los Angeles, California. Titled “The Door Is Always Open”, this exhibition & retrospective looks back at Baseman’s work as an artist, illustrator, animator, and his work as a toy designer. The exhibition engulfs the visitor in a world filled with the artist’s personal history, imagination, and work across different media. This is definitely one of the best exhibitions I’ve seen in some time, so if you’re in the Los Angeles area make sure to visit the museum starting today.
